Work Schedule:   Monday - Sunday

Accomplish daily operations of the assigned laundry contract work to wash, dry, fold and iron clothes and other fabric items.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  1.  Perform  laundry duties:

·         Sort soiled linens and clothing

·         Wash items in large commercial washing machines

·         Dry items in large commercial dryers

·         Fold linen and clothing

·         Iron items as required

·         Package linen and clothing for return to customers

·         Mark/Label packages

·         Clean Dryers 3 times daily

·         Clean Washer/Dryer filters weekly

·         Keep work area clean

  1. Assist Vocational Instructor to complete or perform contract work.
  2. Participate in the overall safety, health and well-being of participants; enforce rules and regulations, good housekeeping habits and safety, and proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment
  3. Treat all persons dealing with The Arc of Hilo in any capacity as well as clients and co-workers with courtesy and cooperation.
  4. Answer all inquiries related to job; refer all other inquiries not related to the job to the appropriate department or personnel.
  5. Performs job responsibilities accurately, timely and in a professional manner.
  6. Maintain compliance with The Arc of Hilo’s Employee Handbook and Safety Handbook.
  7. Attend required meetings and training sessions.
  8. Perform other job related duties as assigned by the Manager or other designated person; perform other assignments for which employee is qualified within other areas of the company as requested by the Manager, the President and Chief Executive Officer or other designated person due to staff shortages or temporary emergencies.




Education : High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience :  Basic laundry experience helpful. 

Other Requirements

Must be able to maintain an acceptable criminal abstract from the State of Hawaii, as determined by the company. Must be able to maintain Protective Services Central Registry clearances from Adult Protective Services (APS) Central Registry and Welfare Services (CWS) Central Registry. Must maintain CPR and First Aid Certificates.  Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and maintain annually a current TB clearance.
